From the very beginning, our mission for the Walking With Alex Foundation has been guided by love, empathy, and the unshakable belief that every child no matter their diagnosis or circumstance deserves the chance to thrive.
As mothers, advocates, and co-founders, we have seen firsthand how transformative the right therapies and support can be for a child with autism. But we’ve also seen the heartbreaking reality of what happens when those supports disappear. Our dream is not only to raise awareness and fund treatment programs for children today, but to build a future where no autistic child is ever left without care or purpose, no matter their age.
We aim for this organization to grow and expand every year. Our long-term goal is to open a center dedicated to autistic individuals over the age of 18—a place that provides daily care, therapies, and meaningful activities designed to nurture independence, confidence, and joy.
For many families, the most difficult chapter begins after age 18. Between the ages of 18 and 22, public school services and ABA therapy programs often the backbone of an autistic child’s progress come to an end. While most young adults’ step into college, jobs, and new beginnings, those with autism are too often left behind, with little to no government support. Their days become empty, their growth stalls, and their families face an overwhelming sense of isolation and fear for their children’s future.
We believe this must change.
Our vision is to create a center that fills those lost years with purpose. A place where autistic young adults can spend their days engaging in productive, supportive, and life-enriching activities. A place that focuses on building independent living skills, creativity, and social connection. A place where they are understood, valued, and integrated into society—rather than pushed to its margins.
We see a world where every person with autism, regardless of age or ability, is given the dignity of belonging, the tools to grow, and the opportunity to live a meaningful life.
This is our promise. This is our mission. And with your support, we will make it a reality.
